Two 2002 Selene Reds Released

Hello from Selene!

We are excited to announce the release of two new wines, the first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and a Bordeaux blend for Selene Wines. Our mailing list is receiving this pre-release offer of both wines from the 2002 vintage.

If you attended our Open House in May, you had a chance to try these wines for yourself. If you missed the open house, here are my tasting notes:

2002 Selene Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – This wine’s aroma has blackberry jam and syrupy-ripe blueberry, caramel, and a nice spicy/floral component of cinnamon, sage, jasmine, violet, and lavender. The mouth has a high-toned entry, reminiscent of the fruits found in the aroma, with a big, broad, chewy texture and a long, chocolaty finish. 293 cases.

2002 “Chesler” Napa Valley Red Wine – Sweet floral aromas of violets and honeysuckle mark the entry into the aromas of this wine, followed by true blackcurrant, very dark chocolate, slight mint, and vanilla bean. Flavors in the mouth are big, intense, and true to the aromatics. The tannins are chewy and sweet with a youthful dusty character in the finish. 345 cases.

In other news at Selene, the 2004 Sauvignon Blanc is flying out the door so don’t wait to place your order. We are sold out of the half bottles!

If you love Selene Merlot, you might want to stock up. I took a short sabbatical from Merlot for the 2003 and 2004 vintages, while I focused my efforts on the new Cabernet and Bordeaux Blend. We have a small quantity of 2001 Napa Valley Merlot in half bottles, and some 2002 Napa Valley Merlot in both sizes.

Check the web site for additional information on both new wines, and other upcoming events. www.selenewines.com. We can accept your orders via the Internet, fax or mail.

Best,

Mia Klein
