Cooking with Wine

Mia and I love to cook. Well, the truth is we love to eat! So, I thought it would be cool to share some of our favorite recipes with you, especially the recipes that have wine as an ingredient. I know it’s hard to believe, but wine is not only for drinking!

As I said in my last post, there are times (3 times last year) when a few bottles are exposed to heat damage when shipping to a customer, so we get it back and use it for cooking. We taste these wines, and they might be a little off, but they are great for cooking wine.

Mia believes you should use good wine to cook with, one that you would enjoy drinking. Perhaps you have a red or white wine that has been opened for a week and doesn’t taste as good as it did the first few days. Stick it in the fridge and use it for cooking!

I use our Sauvignon Blanc for fish or for game hens. Mia uses it in her chicken with fresh rosemary, pizza with a pesto chicken sauce, and pasta sauces. She uses red wine for braised short ribs and I use it to marinate quail.
